How scoring works
Six factors. Weighted by how much they change your meal.
Most restaurants aren't vegan, and most of them still have something for you. VeganMapAI scores all of them — not only the ones that call themselves vegan. The score isn't a star rating: each factor below is scored 0–100 from what's on the menu, how the kitchen handles it, and whether the staff can answer your questions, then weighted as shown. The weights add up to 100%.

Is VeganMapAI free?
Yes. Searching the map, reading VeganScores and saving places are free with a free account on iOS, Android and the web. On iPhone you can also browse as a guest without signing in. Two paid plans add more: Premium at $4.99 a month for dish-level search, community reviews and unlimited favourites, and Premium Max at $11.99 a month for the voice assistant, GLP-1 friendly dish search and restaurant alerts. Both start with a 7-day free trial.
Does a low score mean the restaurant is bad?
No. A low score means vegan options are limited, or we don't have enough data yet. Many excellent restaurants score in the 30s because they only have a few plant-based dishes.
Can I search for a specific restaurant or dish?
Yes. Searching by restaurant name or cuisine is free. Dish search and the voice assistant are part of Premium plans.
What does the ~ next to a score mean?
It's an estimate. We scored the restaurant from diner reviews because its menu hasn't been analyzed yet. In the app, estimates have a dashed outline.
A restaurant is missing, or its score looks wrong.
Suggest a restaurant from inside the app, or email hello@veganmapai.ai with the name and city. Scores are recalculated when a restaurant's data is refreshed.
Does it work outside the US?
Not yet. Every scored restaurant is in the United States. Other countries are on the roadmap.
